Website Design FAQs

You can get a cheap, instant, (sometimes even free!) website from lots of places. This is fine for some people. However, there are many 'gotchas' with those sites, and regardless of size, most organizations should avoid these from the start (because often one of the most common catches is that it's next to impossible to move your site elsewhere when you outgrow it.)

Just a few of the reasons you might need a custom website:

  • Ability to create unlimited content\
  • No 3rd-party branding or advertising
  • Custom or advanced features
  • Unique, non-cookiecutter look, feel, and performance
  • Access to professionally-created graphics or custom modifications after creation
  • Clean, optimized code and content - many 'drag & drop' website creators write terrible code that can poorly affect search ranking

BMK Media has over 10 years of web building experience. We are honest about our pricing and our return. We never over promise and work hand in hand with our clients to create a personalized experience and a professional website. We offer competitive pricing along with a 90 day support plan to each of our clients. Read more about our promise which sets us apart from the rest!

This is a VERY common question. The answer, however, is not always as easy. We can fully launch a wide array of sites within 2 weeks. However, developing an effective website takes ongoing involvement from the owner. No one knows your business better than you - so it is critical you are available and willing to provide input on industry-specific wording, imagery, and other things. Delays in back-and-forth response times can double or even triple the completion time of your project. We have developed a process and pre-development questionnaire that is designed to minimize delays and reduce the time demands required of the site owner.

We are a build-to-suit workshop, but we don't believe in reinventing the wheel for no reason (which would increase costs for our clients) so we definitely use and promote the content management system concept. However we do NOT recommend using WordPress, for these (and many other) reasons:

  1. We consider it to be poorly organized (and overly complex for many beginners)
  2. It is widely used, making you an instant  target for any high-publicity security flaws
  3. A WordPress site is often recognizable at a glance, so it is only "custom" to a certain point
  4. There are MUCH better, MUCH more flexible content management platforms to base your site on

Now your site is already in WordPress, we are definitely capable and competent in the management and operation of it, but don't be surprised if we convince you to switch with a quick demo of what you COULD be using instead!

We don't list fixed prices because we don't produce fixed websites. That does NOT mean we believe in the old saying 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it'. We prefer to believe that if you don't ask, you'll never know how impressive of a site you could have for a reasonable price! Our websites are dynamic, custom-tailored to your purpose, and infinitely growable. Call or email us today for a free quote.

SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization’s details. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol (over port 443) and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser. Historically, SSL is used to secure credit card transactions, data transfer and logins.

As of August 2014, Google has announced their "SSL Everywhere" initiative, which calls for all sites to run in full-time SSL mode - encrypting ALL communication between every site and each of it's visitors. Additionally, it can confirm the site you are at is what it claims to be, and encrypt additional things like contact form submissions.
